Dr. Turner earned his medical degree at the Medical
College of Georgia. He has a Bachelor of Science degree
in Microbiology from the University of Georgia. Dr. Turner completed
a transitional year fellowship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital,
an affiliate of the University of Virginia, prior to
his anatomic and clinical residency at Medical University
of South Carolina. He completed
a hematopathology fellowship at the University of Utah prior to joining the faculty
at the University of Iowa.
Prior to joining WPA, Dr. Turner was Associate Professor
of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University
of Iowa where he was a member of the faculty for eight
years. Dr. Turner served as a senior consultant in hematopathology
for both the Children's Hospital of the University of
Iowa and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He
belongs to the Society for Hematopathology, the United
States and Canadian Academy of Clinical Pathology, the
College of American Pathologists, and the American Society
of Clinical Pathology. He was a prior member of the
CALGB Lymphoma Cadre, and a pathologist associated with
the first NCI-awarded lymphoma grants.
Dr. Turner enjoys all aspects of anatomic and clinical
pathology, and has expertise in neoplastic hematopathology,
particularly lymphoma and leukemia diagnosis.
When Dr. Turner is away from the laboratory, he enjoys
spending time with him family. He is married to Dr.
Lynda Turner, a pediatrician, and enjoys playing with
their children: Anne and Matthew. He enjoys outdoor activities,
water sports, and sailing.
